Championing the Roma Voice Through Music
The Canadian Roma Jazz And Arts Society was founded with one goal, to promote through performances, education, and documentation, the neglected Roma contribution to Music with an emphasis on Jazz.
The Canadian Roma Jazz and Arts Society operates as a non-profit arts organization, fostering opportunities for performance, education and cross-cultural dialogue. Our mission extends beyond the stage, we aim to build community through music, mentorship and cultural preservation.
Lache Cercel
A world renowned violin virtuoso, Maestro Lache Cercel has a strong conviction that music can have a powerful effect on people and he wishes to use his music to help bring peace and harmony to the world. Lache received the Gold Plaque Special Achievement Award in Chicago in 2003 for his music score.
DON OGILVIE
Jazz guitarist and arranger, is known for his fine touch, finesse and melodic improvising. He has worked with Lache Cercel since 1998, adding his deep insight and knowledge about pulse, space, timbre and harmony nuances.
STEPHEN NIKLEVA
Known for his diverse collaborations with artists of striking originality, including Ferron and Petunia. Guitarist Stephen also recorded and toured with Sarah McLachlan.
LAURA CREMA
Award winning Jazz vocalist, dancer and interdisciplinary artist Laura Crema is known for blending different genres in her live and recorded work. Laura has recorded six critically acclaimed albums under her name.
